NYPD Neighborhood Coordination Officers Connect with Harlem Residents at SNY Invitational

On Friday, January 26, and Saturday, January 27, Neighborhood Coordination Officers (NCOs) assigned to the 26th Precinct visited City College of New York, as part of the New York City Police Department’s Build the Block program.

Police Officers Marilin Peralta, Jacquelynn Opirhory, and Gulzar Hussain met with players and fans of the SNY Invitational, the famed annual basketball tournament pitting the top high school teams in the city against each other. At the game, they provided information about upcoming neighborhood meetings and other events in the precinct.

Police Officer Opirhory, a former high school athlete, enjoys being able to connect with the community in these types of settings.

“Through the department’s Build the Block program, we were not only able to promote the program, but we were also able to connect with community members and celebrate the hard work and effort by the participating teams and their athletes,” said Officer Opirhory.
