In a ceremony held at One Police Plaza, executives from the Steel Standing Foundation presented a limited edition September 11th photograph to Police Foundation representatives. The Steel Standing Memorial Foundation was founded by Anthony Whitaker, a Con Edison worker assigned to Lower Manhattan in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. A photograph he took of the largest remaining standing piece of the Twin Towers has become a lasting symbol of resilience and hope.
The Steel Standing Foundation has produced a limited amount of 3,000 numbered, signed copies of this photograph. The photograph numbered 23 was donated to the New York City Police Foundation in honor of the 23 NYPD officers who lost their lives on September 11th. The remaining photos are being donated and sold in support of first-responder and veteran organizations throughout the country.
