“We have a direct connection and genuine cooperation from our community,” said Sergeant Robert Clark the Field Intelligence Officer for PSA 4. “It’s gratifying to make a difference and recover a loaded firearm after addressing community concerns.”
A day after Christmas, police officers recovered a loaded handgun on the Lower East Side after responding to recent complaints. At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 26, the Field Intelligence Officer (FIO) of Police Service Area (PSA) 4 and the Anti-crime Team conducted an operation at the Bracetti Houses at 240 East 4 Street. The police officers were addressing complaints of drug activity by patrolling the building when they observed a male in the stairwell. The man attempted to leave but Police Officer Pulver the Assistant FIO stopped him after observing a handgun in the man’s pocket. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and a loaded .40 cal handgun, crack cocaine and marijuana were recovered.
