NYPD Officers Stop Vehicle, Recover Martial Arts Weapons and a Handgun in Queens

Last month two NYPD police officers on patrol in South Queens recovered a cache of weapons during a car stop. Police Officer Ernyey and his partner Police Officer Giardina stopped a vehicle at 153 Street and 119 Avenue for a traffic infraction. As the officers approached the vehicle, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car and ordered the occupants out. The driver fled but the passenger was apprehended at the scene. The vehicle was impounded and a subsequent search resulted in the recovery of marijuana and numerous weapons.

Arrested: Male, 49 years old

Charges:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon (multiple counts)
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana

Recovered:

  • Loaded .38 cal revolver (stolen)
  • Two swords
  • Nunchucks
  • A quantity of marijuana
