Newly-named Police Communications Technician (PCT) Jasmine Kinard grew up in a family dedicated to public safety. PCT Kinard’s mother is a New York City Health & Hospital police officer and her two siblings are members of the NYPD. While PCT Kinard spent the last few years pursuing her aspirations as a chef, she has always felt a calling to serve:
“Growing up surrounded by the department, I’ve always wanted to be part of the NYPD,” said PCT Kinard.
After several months of intensive training, PCT Kinard is ready to gather information from 911 callers in order to initiate the appropriate emergency assistance. PCT Kinard is looking forward to working as a 911 operator so she can be the first line of hope for people in crisis:
“What I like most about the job is knowing I’m helping someone in need. You never know what’s on the other end of those calls and sometimes we are the voices the public needs to hear to give them hope that help is on the way!”
Congratulations to last week’s NYPD Communications Section graduates and thank you to all the men and women who serve as a vital link between members of the public and our officers in the field.
