NYPD Continues Disaster Relief Efforts

Following the devastation caused by the hurricanes in the Caribbean and the earthquakes in Mexico, the NYPD established donation drop-off points to collect much needed supplies. Essential items were gathered at patrol precincts, transit districts, and public service areas throughout the five boroughs. This citywide relief effort was made possible through collaboration with community members, the Mayor’s Office, and the Office for Emergency Management.

To date, more than 14,000 cases of essential items have been shipped to Puerto Rico. This includes baby food, diapers, first aid kits, batteries, canned goods, and water. Today, NYPD volunteers gathered at the Resort World Casino in Queens to prepare and sort donated items for shipment to the island. A group of NYPD volunteers will be traveling to Puerto Rico to aid with ongoing relief efforts and ensure that the supplies reach those who need it most. While the NYPD is dedicated to keeping all New Yorkers safe, our community extends to those in need throughout the world.
