Detective Diaz, of the NYPD Transit Citywide Vandals Task Force, was in the right place at the right time when an early morning subway interaction turned criminal. On September 18th, a man on a northbound F Train in Queens was occupying two seats when another passenger asked him to sit in one of the seats. The man who was sitting immediately became irate, continued to argue, and eventually brandished a handgun to the victim.
After recovering from the initial shock of the incident, the victim called 911 to report the subway crime. Detective Diaz heard the radio operator dispatching the 911 call and waited for the train to arrive at the platform he was patrolling. When the train stopped at the station, the conductor kept the train doors closed and directed Detective Diaz to the perpetrator. Detective Diaz arrested the perpetrator and confiscated his illegal firearm without incident.
