Over 400 NYPD police officers graduated the Police Academy today in a ceremony held at the Madison Square Garden Theatre. Elected officials, NYPD executives, and loved ones gathered to celebrate the occasion. Police Commissioner O’Neill presided over the celebration and congratulated the officers on their outstanding achievements.
“You took this job to make a difference, to lead lives of significance,” Police Commissioner O’Neill said.
“This is the most rewarding profession you will ever have.”
The June 2016 graduating class includes officers from 32 different countries and speak 39 different languages. These newly graduated officers join thousands of other men and women in the NYPD who are dedicated to protecting our city and connecting with those we have vowed to keep safe.
