Cops on the Lower East Side Arrest Two For Drug and Weapon Possession

Members of the 9 Precinct’s Anti-Crime team took weapons and drugs off the streets after responding to community complaints in the East Village last Thursday. At approximately 1:00 a.m., Lieutenant Lee and Police Officers Novellino, Bowman, Delway, and Menoni were conducting an operation in the vicinity of East 5 Street and Avenue C in response to numerous quality-of-life complaints by community members.

The Anti-Crime team observed a 22-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman in front of the Lower East Side Two Houses and after speaking with the two individuals further investigation by the officers revealed they were in possession of marijuana. The officers also impounded the suspects’ vehicle that was parked nearby. Multiple weapons, drug paraphernalia, and additional marijuana were recovered from the car. The suspects were charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
