“Officer Meyer and I just got assigned to the Anti-Crime team a week ago. Now here we were in the snow putting all our training to use.
It’s what I signed up to do, get guns off the street and make New York City safer,” said Police Officer Encarnacion.
Members of the 43 Precinct Anti-Crime team were patrolling on Tremont Avenue when an investigation led them to a man they stopped. As the officers approached the man the suspect fled, but Sergeant Garcia and Police Officers Vazquez, Meyer and Encarnacion were able to apprehend him. Further investigation revealed the man was in possession of an illegal firearm.
The 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
