Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

 September is Suicide Prevention Awareness month. There are many ways you can help someone.

Most importantly, if you feel alone, hopeless, or thoughts of suicide there’s help available. You are not alone. If it’s an emergency, call 911. If you need to talk (or even text) here are some options:

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 800.273.8255
  • Crisis Text Line: Text START to 741-741
  • Veterans Crisis Line: 800.273.8255 & press “1”; text 838255
  • LifeNET (NYC): 800.LIFENET

If you know of someone that might need help, the first and best thing you can do is check in with them. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE AN EXPERT. There are some tips below on how to check in with someone and start a conversation.
