Police Commissioner O’Neill’s Rosh Hashanah Message To The NYPD

To the men and women of the New York City Police Department:

This weekend, many members of the NYPD will celebrate Rosh Hashanah and the start of Year 5777 in the Jewish calendar. On behalf of the entire department, best wishes to everyone who observes the holiday. L’Shanah Tovah!

Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the Days of Awe – a time of repentance and reflection, of asking for forgiveness and charity. For those of us who, at one point in our lives, chose to make a difference by serving the public, this call to look after others comes naturally.
Keep safe and have a successful New Year.

James P. O’Neill
Police Commissioner
