Homicide Suspect Caught During Car Stop

Police officers conducting traffic enforcement on the Upper East Side arrested a man wanted for a homicide. On Saturday, September 10, Police Officers Murphy and Servia of the 19 Precinct stopped a car for making an illegal left turn at 86 Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan.

While they were in the process of issuing a summons, the 59-year-old male driver became irate and exited his vehicle. The police officers quickly ordered the man to get back into his vehicle and reviewed the driver’s information on the computer inside their police vehicle. The officers were able to determine that the man they pulled over was also a suspect wanted for a homicide that occurred in 2013. With this information, the officers approached the vehicle again and were able to place the man under arrest.

“Nothing is routine, we’ve learned to always expect the unexpected,” said Police Officer Murphy.
