My School Has Rhythm Not Violence

Earlier this year, Alfred E Smith’s “New Generation” took on groups from other high schools in the “My School Has Rhythm Not Violence” competition. The program reinforces the idea that art can educate, and spreads an anti-violence message through music. New Generation won the annual event and then took their work to the studio. Members of the NYPD’s Community Affairs Bureau and School Safety Division helped out with a music video, and the result shows that kids CAN make changes in the streets, and be all they want to be.
