“We’ve used the iPhone application before, so we were familiar with it. It’s great being able to use this technology to help someone and make an arrest,” said Lieutenant Sloan.

On Saturday, July 16, Central Park Precinct police officers used the “Find My iPhone” application to locate a stolen cell phone and arrest two men. Police Officers Derosa and Nicotina responded to a 911 call of robbery near 102 Street and East Drive inside Central Park. Upon arriving on the scene, the officers were informed by the 21-year-old victim that he was assaulted and robbed of his wallet and iPhone. The police officers and their supervisor, Lieutenant Sloan, were able to track the stolen cell phone to a nearby park on 106 Street and arrested the two suspects.
