Police Officer Involved Shooting (Bronx)

6-19-16 Firearm recovered 43 PCT HI-POINT 9 MM CROPPED

On Sunday, June 19, 2016 at approximately 1:50 a.m. police responded to a 911 call for shots fired as well as a ShotSpotter activation in the vicinity of 1725 Randall Avenue(Soundview Houses) in the confines of the 43rd Precinct/PSA-8.

Upon arrival, officers from the Housing Impact Response Team and the 43rd Precinct Anti-Crime Unit encountered a male holding  a firearm. The officers ordered the suspect to drop the firearm and he refused.  Three officers discharged their service weapons striking the suspect several times. The suspect was removed to Jacobi Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Four officers were removed to Montefiore Hospital for observation. A Hi-Point 9mm firearm was recovered at the scene. This incident is being investigated by NYPD’s Force Investigation Division. Identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
