WANTED: Attempted Rape (Brooklyn)

On Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at approximately 5:22 a.m. police responded to a 911 call of a report of a past sexual assault inside of Prospect Park, near Garfield Place and Prospect Park West. Upon arrival, police were informed by a 23-year-old female who stated that while she was jogging inside the park at 5:12 a.m. an unidentified male approached the victim from behind when he threw her to the ground, produced a knife and stated that he was going to sexually assault her. The victim resisted and a struggle ensued at which time male fled. The victim sustained a laceration to her right index finger and was transported by EMS to Methodist Hospital in stable condition. The individual is described as a male Black, 6′ with light facial hair and was wearing a black sweatsuit. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying the following individual in connection to the above incident that occurred within the confines of the 78 Precinct. The individual is described as follows:

  • Male, black, 5’10” to 6’0″, 180lbs to 190lbs, short hair, goatee. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black pants with white lettering on one pant leg, and black sneakers with white bottoms.
