Police officers in Brooklyn used their department issued smartphones to track down a shooting suspect last month. Police Officers Tantillo and Taverna of the 73 Precinct responded to 230 Lott Avenue for a call of shots fired and upon arriving were able to speak to a witness to get a description of the suspect. After they searched the area and recovered a .25 caliber handgun the officers used their department issued smartphones to gather information about the suspect and view a photo that was on file. Based on the photo, the officers spotted the suspect nearby and placed him under arrest.
