The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating and identifying four males in regards to multiple grand larcenies that occurred in various locations throughout Manhattan. Details are as follows:
Between Saturday, February 27, 2016 and Tuesday, March 29, 2016 police received 23 reports from victims stating that money has been removed from their bank accounts without authorization. Upon further investigation it was determined that devices were placed on points of sale at supermarkets in Manhattan, and that the devices stored the credit/debit card numbers and personal identification numbers (PINs) associated with the cards used by victims to pay for purchases. This information was later utilized to illegally remove money from the victims’ bank accounts at ATMs in Manhattan and Queens using forged cards.
Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
