112 Pct Stranger Danger

The 112 Precinct conducted a “Stranger Danger Awareness” presentation at Our Savior Lutheran School in Rego Park, Queens on a recent Tuesday morning.  Police officer Avila, of the Crime Prevention Unit and a veteran of approximately 20 such presentations, enjoys these opportunities to share safety tips.

“I try to teach kids to be comfortable around police and to ask us for help” said police officer Avila.

Police officer Avila was joined by police officer Dibisceglie of the 112 Precinct School Unit. The two officers visited five classrooms and spoke to approximately 90 children. A variety of safety topics were covered yet teaching kids how to properly interact with strangers was the primary focus. The officers distributed coloring books called, “Police Officers are Your Friends” and stayed to color with the students.

Anyone interested in having police officers visit their children’s school are encouraged to call their local precinct’s Crime Prevention Office.
