Cops from the 33 Precinct in Washington Heights recovered a stolen livery cab after utilizing its installed GPS unit. Anti-Crime team members Sergeant Cruz and Police Officer’s Nunez, McGrath and Valerio were investigating the theft of a 2015 Toyota Avalon last Friday at the start of their tour. With cooperation from the livery cab company that owned the vehicle the officers were able to access the vehicle’s GPS unit and track the Toyota to Wadsworth Avenue and 183 Street. A 29-year-old man was arrested after the officers observed him attempting to drive away in the stolen car. A quantity of heroin was also recovered from the suspect. The suspect was charged with Grand Larceny Auto, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving with a Suspended License.
