NYPD Teamwork & Technology Leads To Arrest of Bank Robbers

Police Officers from the 19 Precinct Anti-Crime Team arrested a suspect wanted in connection to eight bank robberies on Thursday, January 28. Due to recent bank robberies in the confines of their precinct and adjoining area, the team utilized their NYPD issued smart phones to alert them of any calls of commercial establishment alarms being set off, as well as for robberies in progress.

When they were alerted via their smartphones of a bank alarm going off (this happens prior to it being put over their police radios, as they get the alert the same time as the 911 call taker), they were able to quickly respond and arrest the suspect. Detectives from the Major Case Squad responded to the precinct and during their interview of the suspect, he confessed to the other bank robberies.
