Cops and community members in Queens spread some holiday cheer to families in need earlier this month. The community council in the 114 Precinct and NYPD officers held their annual Christmas party at Riccardo’s Catering Hall on Astoria Boulevard where more than 200 children were presented with bags full of toys, hats, scarves, gloves, and McDonald’s gift cards. Seven children even won bicycles that were raffled off.

The officers and council members began planning the party in October by working with local businesses, houses of worship and community organizations to identify families who needed a helping hand this holiday season. Originally held inside the 114 Precinct station house, the annual party has been taking place for many years, but due to great success and large number of supporters a larger location was needed.
