Smartphone Helps Catch Dumb Robbers


Officers on Staten Island arrested four robbery suspects after the victim spotted the suspects at PS 60 in Graniteville and alerted officers on their NYPD issued smart phones.

The 16-year-old male victim was assaulted and robbed of his cell phone and backpack  Thursday evening in front of a playground at Laurie Intermediate School. Police Officers Diaz and Glazer gave the victim their NYPD cell phone numbers and told him to call if he sees the suspects. On Friday, the victim saw the suspects and contacted the officers. The victim positively identified the alleged robbers who were taken into custody while playing basketball at PS 60.

All four suspects have been charged with  robbery, assault, and larceny.
