NYPD And FDNY Apprehend Burglary Suspect On Subway Tracks

NYPD officers and members of the FDNY apprehended a man suspected of committing a burglary on the Upper Easy Side of Manhattan last week.  On Sunday October 4, a man entered a residential building on East 84th Street in and removed a purse from behind the front desk. The door person noticed that her bag had been removed and chased the man while calling for assistance. Fire fighters from Engine 22 and Ladder 13 were nearby and were able to stop the suspect, but he was able to get away after threatening the firefighters with a pair of scissors. Police Officers Randoncic and Wong from the 19 Precinct responded and pursued the suspect into the 86 Street subway station where the suspect fled onto the 5 train subway tracks and proceeded to hide underneath a train car. Power was shut off on the tracks and the 51-year-old man was arrested after a brief struggle with the arresting officers.
